Council is proud to host a special Harmony Day event for the community on 21 March 2025, bringing people together to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Glen Innes Severn.

With almost 20 per cent of residents born overseas, this event highlights the importance of inclusivity and provides an opportunity for the community to connect, share traditions and embrace the many cultures that contribute to our Local Government Area’s vibrant identity.

Glen Innes Severn Council Mayor Margot Davis said the event is an opportunity for residents to recognise and appreciate the many cultures that shape Glen Innes Severn.

“Our community is enriched by people from diverse backgrounds, and Harmony Day is a chance to acknowledge and celebrate that,” Cr Davis said. “It’s about embracing different traditions, sharing stories and fostering a sense of belonging for everyone.”

The free event will take place at the Glen Innes & District Services Club from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, offering a range of activities, delicious food and entertainment. Attendees can enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and morning tea while engaging in activities that highlight the importance of cultural differences and the value they bring to our community.
